Purpose:
To assess the ability to conceive and identify potential fertility issues in both men and women.
Specific Tests:
– Men:
– Semen Analysis: Measures sperm count, motility (movement), morphology (shape), volume, and pH.
– Hormone Testing: Levels of testosterone, FSH, and LH.
– Genetic Testing: Identifies genetic causes of infertility.
– Testicular Biopsy: Examines sperm production if sperm count is very low.
– Women:
– Ovulation Testing: Measures levels of LH in urine to determine if ovulation is occurring.
– Ovarian Reserve Testing: Measures levels of FSH, estradiol, and AMH to assess the quantity and quality of eggs.
– Imaging Tests: Ultrasound to examine the ovaries and uterus.
– Hysterosalpingography (HSG): X-ray of the fallopian tubes and uterus to check for blockages or abnormalities.
– Hormone Testing: Levels of FSH, LH, oestradiol, progesterone, thyroid hormones, and prolactin.
